About the Home Improvement Protection Scheme

Damp proofing is a process for preventing walls absorbing moisture up from the ground (rising damp). New buildings are constructed with a damp proof course sandwiched between the bricks all around the house just above the foundations. The damp course acts as a physical barrier preventing moisture rising up into the walls.

Older buildings have either never had a damp proofing course or the materials that were used in construction have worn away allowing dampness to push through. This is where chemical damp proof course (DPC) comes in. Quite simply, a chemical fluid is pumped into the wall and then reacts with the moisture present to create a damp course blocking further moisture from rising up from the ground.

Depending on the remedial work that may need to be carried out before a treatment can begin and obviously the size of the property, treatment can usually be completed within a single day.

Abacus Exterior Solutions will carry out a full survey to identify the suitability of your property to receive a treatment and also inform you of any remedial work that is required before treatment can begin. You will be provided with a full breakdown of all aspects of the project and there will be no hidden surprises.

Of course, you are protected by the Home Improvement Protection scheme and in addition, you will receive a 10 year guarantee from Abacus – if damp reoccurs in any pre-treated wall area within this time, Abacus will retreat the area for free.

Covered by the Home Improvement Protection Scheme and a 10 Year Guarantee!
